Mary Dorothea Molloy was the daughter of Lt.-Col. John Molloy and Georgiana Kennedy.1 She married Maj.-Gen. Sir Edmund Frederick du Cane, son of Major Richard du Cane and Eliza Ware, on 18 July 1855 at Fremantle, Western Australia, Australia.2 She died on 13 May 1881.

Sir Lionel Alexander Bethune Pilkington was born on 7 January 1920.1 He was the son of Colonel Lionel George Pilkington and Evelyn Carnegie Bethune.1 He married, firstly, Patricia Nicholls Elliott, daughter of R.-Adml. Frank Elliott, on 1 June 1945.1,2 He married, secondly, Kathleen Haynes in 1978.1 He died on 5 May 1995 at age 75.1
He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was director of Pilkington Brothers between 1955 and 1985.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1969.1 He was appointed Knight in 1970.1 He was director of the Bank of England between 1974 and 1984.1 He was president of Pilkington plc between 1985 and 1995.1 He held the office of Chancellor of Liverpool University from 1994 to 1995.1
