     Colonel Alexander Marshall Horace Gregory-Hood was born on 18 July 1915.2 He was the son of Major Charles Hugh Gregory-Hood and Dorothy Brooks.2 He married Diana Gilmour, daughter of Lt.-Col. Sir John Little Gilmour of Craigmillar, 2nd Bt. and Hon. Victoria Laura Cadogan, on 6 March 1943.1 He and Diana Gilmour were divorced between 1947 and 1949.1 He died on 30 June 1999 at age 83.2
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.2 He fought in the Second World War, and was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.2 He was decorated with the award of the Military Cross (M.C.) (and bar).2 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Grenadier Guards.2 He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1954.2 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1959.2
