     He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) and bar.1 Brigadier Edward Maxwell Tyler usually went by his middle name of Maxwell.1 He gained the rank of Briadier in the Royal Artillery.1
