     Major James Dunbar Whatman is the son of Major James Dunbar Whatman.1 He married Pamela Helen Ritchie, daughter of Lt.-Col. Hon. Harold Ritchie and Ella Priestley, on 19 April 1939.1
     He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He gained the rank of Major in the Grenadier Guards.1

     Hon. Jane Gregor Ritchie was born on 19 November 1859.1 She was the daughter of Charles Thomson Ritchie, 1st Baron Ritchie of Dundee and Margaret Ower.1 She married Thomas Barclay Cockerton on 19 July 1888.1 She died on 12 April 1933 at age 73.1
     From 19 July 1888, her married name became Cockerton.1
