     Major Ian Charles Ritchie was born on 27 March 1908.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Hon. Harold Ritchie and Ella Priestley.¹ He married, firstly, Ann Dundas Whigham, daughter of General Sir Robert Dundas Whigham, on 29 April 1931.¹ He and Ann Dundas Whigham were divorced in 1946.¹ He married, secondly, Pamela Eveleen Elizabeth Vickers, daughter of Reginald Henry Vickers, on 3 September 1946.¹ He died on 7 May 1982 at age 74 at Surrey, England.^1,2
     He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Artillery.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹
