     Sir Bernard Melchior Feilden was born on 11 September 1919 at London, England.1 He was the son of Major Robert Humphrey Feilden and Olive Binyon.1 He married Ruth Mildred Bainbridge in 1949.1 He married Christina Matilda Beatrice Tufnell, daughter of Henry Frederick Erskine Tufnell and Susan Mary Pember, in 1995.1 He died on 14 November 2008 at age 89 at Bawburgh, Norfolk, England.1
     He was partner of Feilden and Mawson, architects between 1956 and 1977.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Institute of British Architects (F.R.I.B.A.) in 1968.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1969.1 He was Professor of Architecture between 1973 and 1974 at Leeds University, Leeds, Yorkshire, West Riding, England.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1976.1 He was director of International Centre for the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property between 1977 and 1981 at Rome, Italy.1 He wrote the book An Introduction to Conservation, published 1979.1 He wrote the book Conservation of Historic Buildings, published 1982.1 He was appointed Knight in 1985.1 He wrote the book Guidlines for Management of World Cultural Heritage Sites, published 1993.1
