     Edward Percy Douglas was born on 26 November 1886.1 He was the son of Walter Douglas-Irvine and Anne Frances Lloyd.1 He married, firstly, Alice Margaret Douglas, daughter of Sir John Douglas and Alice Ann Claughton, on 11 October 1918.1 He married, secondly, Alice Audrey Sharman after 1931.2 He and Alice Audrey Sharman were divorced in 1949.2 He married, thirdly, Hester Vivian Claude, daughter of Frederick Claude, in April 1949.2
     He was given the name of Edward Percy Douglas-Irvine at birth.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Cpaptain in the Royal Field Artillery.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Pioneer Corps.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 In 1919 his name was legally changed to Edward Percy Douglas.1
