     Sir Arthur Strachey was born on 5 December 1858.1 He was the son of Sir John Strachey and Katherine Jane Batten.1 He married Ellen Conolly, daughter of John Conolly, on 22 October 1885.1 He died on 14 May 1901 at age 42 at Simla, India, without issue.1
     He was educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1883.1 He held the office of Judge of the High Court [Bengal] in 1895.1 He was appointed Knight in 1899.1 He held the office of Chief Justice of the High Court of Allahabad in 1899.1
