     Maj.-Gen. Richard Clement Moody was born on 13 February 1813 at Barbados.1 He was the son of Major Thomas Moody.1 He married Mary Susannah Hawks, daughter of Joseph Hawks, on 6 July 1852 at St. Andrews Church, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland, England.1 He died on 21 March 1887 at age 74.1
     He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, London, England.1 He was commissioned in 1830, in the service of the Royal Engineers.1 He held the office of Governor of the Falkland Islands between 1841 and 1849.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Engineers.1 He held the office of Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia in 1858.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1866.1

     Mary Susannah Hawks is the daughter of Joseph Hawks.1 She married Maj.-Gen. Richard Clement Moody, son of Major Thomas Moody, on 6 July 1852 at St. Andrews Church, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland, England.1
