     Walter Gregory Underwood was born on 1 August 1847 at Diddlebury, Shropshire, England.1 He was the son of Reverend Thomas Underwood and Mary Elizabeth Harvey.1 He married Isabella Montgomery Finlay, daughter of Lt.-Col. George Charles Finlay and Catherine Farquharson Macfarlane, on 22 October 1872 at St. John, Trichinopoly, Madras, India.1 He died on 29 March 1914 at age 66 at India.1

George Charles Finlay was born in 1828 at Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was the son of Gilbert Laurie Finlay and Grace Hunter Charles.1 He married Catherine Farquharson Macfarlane, daughter of Alexander Campbell Macfarlane, on 19 January 1853 at St. Andrew, Madras, India.1 He died on 2 October 1878 at Bangalore, India.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Madras Native Infantry.1
