He was educated at Rugby School, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.1 He graduated from King's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was with the Egyptian Civil Service in 1906.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1926.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1944.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1951.1
