     Colonel David Murray Smythe was born on 17 November 1850 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He was the son of William Smythe, 12th of Braco, 6th of Methven Castle and Emily Oswald.2 He married Hon. Katherine Jane Bagot, daughter of William Bagot, 3rd Baron Bagot of Bagot's Bromley and Hon. Lucia Caroline Elizabeth Agar-Ellis, on 17 September 1898.1 He died on 10 February 1928 at age 77 at Dundee, Angus, Scotland.1,2
     He lived at Methven Castle, Perthshire, Scotland.1
