     He graduated from St. Catharine's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1926 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He graduated in 1926 with a Aldenham, and St Catharine's College Camb Master of Arts (M.A.) ).1 He was Fellow, Tutor and Senior Tutor between 1926 and 1945 at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches twice.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1945.1 He was Faculty Board of Fine Art in 1945 at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier in the The Welch Regiment.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society of Literature (F.R.S.L.)1 He was awarded the U.S. Legion of Merit.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1965.1
