Hon. Sir Kenneth Gilmour Younger was born on 15 December 1908.1 He was the son of James Younger, 2nd Viscount Younger of Leckie and Maud Gilmour.2 He married Elizabeth Kirsteen Stewart, daughter of William Duncan Stewart, on 23 August 1934.1 He died on 19 May 1976 at age 67.1
He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1930 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1932 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Intelligence Corps.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Labour) for Grimsby between 1945 and 1959.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Under-Secretary of the Home Office between 1947 and 1950.1 He held the office of Minister of State, Foreign Office between 1950 and 1951.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1951.1 He wrote the book The Public Service in New States, published 1960.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1961 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He wrote the book Changing Perspectives in British Foreign Policy, published 1964.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1972.1
