     He was commander of H.E.I.C.S. Ship Lord Holland.3 He lived at Banff, Banffshire, Scotland.1

     Richard Hennessy was born in 1720 at Ballymacmoy, County Cork, Ireland.1 He was the son of James Hennessy and Catherine Barrett.2 He married Ellen Barrett, daughter of James Barrett and Margaret Nagle, in 1763.1 He died in 1800.1
     He gained the rank of Officer in the Dillon's Regiment in French Service.1 He fought in the Battle of Fontenoy in 1745.1 He was founder of the Hennessy brandy firm in 1765 at Cognac, Poitou, France.1
