Colonel George Swinton1

     Colonel George Swinton was born on 27 November 1837.1 He was the son of Colonel William Swinton and Elizabeth Blair.2 He married, firstly, Annie Macnaughten Lawrence, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir George St. Patrick Lawrence and Charlotte Isabella Browne, on 15 January 1868.1 He married, secondly, Edith Bessie Ward, daughter of Francis Ward, on 17 December 1889.2 He died on 18 July 1912 at age 74.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Engineers.1

     Mary Ann Wroe was born circa 1820 at Salford, Lancashire, England.1 She married David Brown Armstrong, son of George Jefferson Armstrong and Ann Brown, in 1856 at Barton, Lancashire, England.1

     Annie Macnaughten Lawrence was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir George St. Patrick Lawrence and Charlotte Isabella Browne.2 She married Colonel George Swinton, son of Colonel William Swinton and Elizabeth Blair, on 15 January 1868.1 She died in 1881.1
     From 15 January 1868, her married name became Swinton.

     William Swinton was born on 27 April 1892.1 He was the son of Colonel George Swinton and Edith Bessie Ward.2 He married Vera Winifred Burr, daughter of Reverend A. J. Burr, on 26 June 1919.1 He died on 23 November 1964 at age 72.1
     He was Brigadier RA, WW II with CCMA III Corps and CCRA XII , Brigadier Royal Artillery Ceylon Army Cmd 1942, Brigadier Royal Artillery 21st Army Group SEAC 1943–45 Corps 1941.1 He was educated Marlborough.1 He was Military Cross (M.C.) and two bars.1
