     He was educated at Victoria College, Jersey, Channel Islands.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in April 1916 in the Royal Flying Corps.1

     Colonel William Swynfen Jervis was born on 8 November 1839 at Aligur, India.1 He was the son of Colonel William Jervis and Mary Amelia Dobbie.1 He married, firstly, Edith Wise, daughter of Reverend William John Wise and Sophia Buckworth Smith, in 1865.1 He married, secondly, Sarah Anne Mills in 1918 at Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.1 He died on 3 April 1920 at age 80 at Southsea, Hampshire, England.1
     He gained the rank of Cornet on 4 February 1857 in the 1st Bengal Fusiliers.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 30 April 1858.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Munsters.1
