     Sir James Watson Stewart of Balgownie, 4th Bt. was born on 8 November 1922.1 He was the son of Sir James Watson Stewart of Balgownie, 3th Bt. and Jane Sim.2 He married, firstly, Anne Elizabeth Glaister, daughter of Joseph Greer Glaister, on 30 November 1946.1 He married, secondly, Avril Veronica Gibb, daughter of Andrew Adamson Gibb, in 1980.1 He died in 1988, without issue.1
     He was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, England.1 He gained the rank of officer between 1941 and 1947 in the 1st SAS Parachute Regiment.1 He was educated at Aberdeen University, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Stewart, of Balgownie, co. Dunbarton [U.K., 1920] on 4 June 1955.1
