     Reverend Francis Close was born on 11 July 1797 at Corston, Somerset, England.1 He was the son of Reverend Henry Jackson Close.1 He married, firstly, Ann Diana Arden, daughter of Reverend John Arden and Margaret Elizabeth Hamar, on 24 February 1820 at Yoxall, Staffordshire, England.1 He married, secondly, Mary Antrim Stenhouse, daughter of John Stenhouse and Anna (?), in 1880 at Christchurch, Hampshire, England.1 He died on 18 December 1882 at age 85.1
     He was Rector between 1826 and 1856 at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He held the office of Dean of Carlisle between 1856 and 1881.1

     Thomas McDonnell was born in 1832 at The PhilippinesG.1 He was the son of Captain Thomas McDonnell and Anna Pattenson.1 He married Rose von Dardebyyn in 1866.2 He married Henrietta Elsie Lomax, daughter of Thomas E. Lomax, in 1870.2 He died on 8 November 1899 at Wanganui, New Zealand.1
     He fought in the Maori Wars between 1863 and 1870.1 He was awarded the New Zealand Cross (N.Z.C.) in 1886.2
