     Vice-Admiral James Carthew was baptised on 23 May 1770 at Liskeard, Cornwall, England.2 He married Elizabeth Howell.2 He died on 27 November 1855 at age 85 at Looe, Cornwall, England.2 He was buried on 1 December 1855 at Lanteglos by Fowey, Cornwall, England.2
