Maj.-Gen. Francis John William Eustace was born on 17 September 1849.1 He was the son of Alexander John Talbot Eustace-Malpas and Georgiana Charlotte Drummond.2 He married Marina Annie Stewart, daughter of Field Marshal Sir Donald Martin Stewart, 1st Bt. and Marina Dabine, on 13 February 1882.1 He died on 7 December 1925 at age 76.1
He was educated at Bath College, Bath, Somerset, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1870 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Artillery.1 He was with the Red Cross in the Russo-Turkish War between 1877 and 1878.1 He fought in the Afghan War between 1878 and 1880.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to Commander-in-Chief, India (his father-in-law) between 1882 and 1883.1 He was commnder of the Royal Horse Artillery Aldershot between 1896 and 1899.1 He was AAG for Royal Horse Artillery on the staff of Sir John French between 1899 and 1900.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900, where he was mentioned in despatches several times.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1900.1 He was Commandant of the School of Gunnery between 1901 and 1904.1 He was commander of the Royal Artillery Aldershot between 1904 and 1907.1 He retired from the military in 1907, with the rank of Major-General.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1913.1 He was Colonel Cmdt Royal Artillery in 1919.1 He lived at Doric House, Bath, Somerset, EnglandG.1
