     Mary Somerville was the daughter of Gilbert Somerville, 7th Lord Somerville and Margaret Somerville.1 She married, secondly, Sir William Douglas of Pumpherstoun.1 She married, firstly, James Sandilands, 2nd Lord Torphichen, son of James Sandilands, 9th of Calder and Jean Ross.1 She died on 15 May 1620.2
     Her married name became Douglas.1 Her married name became Sandilands.1

     James Somerville, 9th Lord Somerville was born in January 1595/96.2 He was the son of Hugh Somerville, 8th Lord Somerville and Margaret Hamilton.1 A contract for the marriage of James Somerville, 9th Lord Somerville and Lilias Bannatyne was signed on 5 April 1631.1,2 He died on 3 January 1677.1
     He succeeded as the 9th Lord Somerville [S., 1444] in 1640, although he didn't use the title.1
