     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1936 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Coldstream Guards.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Ecclesall between 1945 and 1950.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Heeley between 1950 and 1966.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Roberts, of Ecclesall and Queen's Tower, City of Sheffield and West Riding of Yorkshire [U.K., 1919] on 13 December 1955.1 He was Master Cutler of Sheffield between 1956 and 1957.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Hallamshire in 1970.1 He was chairman of Newton, Chambers & Company in 1972.1
