     Sir Walter Riddell of that Ilk, 10th Bt. was born on 8 August 1810 at Ramsgate, Kent, England.1,2 He was the son of Sir John Buchanan Riddell of that Ilk, 9th Bt. and Lady Frances Marsham.3 He married Alicia Ripley, daughter of William Ripley, on 18 August 1859 at St. James's, Westminster, London, England.1,2 He died on 27 August 1892 at age 82 at Henham Hall, Suffolk, England, without issue.1,2
     He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Riddell, of Riddell, co. Roxburgh [N.S., 1628] in April 1819.1 He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1831 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1834 entitled to practise as a barrister.2 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1834 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He held the office of Recorder of Maidstone between 1846 and 1868.1 He held the office of Judge of the County Courts of North Staffordshire between 1859 and 1862.2 He held the office of Judge of the Whitechapel County Courts between 1863 and 1879.1

     Alicia Ripley was the daughter of William Ripley.2 She married Sir Walter Riddell of that Ilk, 10th Bt., son of Sir John Buchanan Riddell of that Ilk, 9th Bt. and Lady Frances Marsham, on 18 August 1859 at St. James's, Westminster, London, England.1,3 She died on 28 October 1912.1
     From 18 August 1859, her married name became Riddell.
