     Sir James Desmond Piers, 11th Bt. was born on 24 July 1947.1 He is the son of Sir Charles Robert FitzMaurice Piers, 10th Bt. and Ann Blanche Scott Ferguson.2 He married Sandra Mae Dixon in 1975.1
     He graduated from University of Victoria, Victoria, British Columbia, CanadaG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was educated at Shawnigan Lake School, Shawnigan Lake, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaG.1 He was a practising barrister and solicitor in 1974.1 He was a partner of Russell and DuMoulin.1 He succeeded as the 11th Baronet Piers, of Tristernagh Abbey, co. Westmeath [U.K., 1660/1] on 1 January 1996.2 He lived at 2100-1075 West Georgia Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.1

     William Piers was the son of Richard Piers.2 He died in 1602.1
     He emigrated to Ireland arriving on 1566.1 He was a soldier.1 He was granted much land, including the Abbey of Tristernagh, County Westmeath.1 In 1569 he was given a reward of 1000 marks for bringing in the head of the Irish chief Shane O'Neill.1 He held the office of Governor of Carrickfergus.1 He held the office of Seneschal of County Antrim.1
