     Sir John Ogilvy, 1st of Inverquharity is the son of Sir Walter Ogilvy of Auchterhouse and Isabel Ramsay.^2,3
     He lived at Inverquharity, Angus, Scotland^G.² In 1420 obtained from his brother Sir Walter, of Lintrathen, Treasurer of Scotland, the lands and territorial Barony of Inverquharity, in Kirriemuir, Forfarshire.¹

     Alexander Ogilvy, 2nd of Inverquharity was the son of Sir John Ogilvy, 1st of Inverquharity.² He married Janet Towers, daughter of William Towers.¹ He died on 23 January 1445, killed in a fight with the Lindsays.¹
     On 15 June 1434 obtained charters from: Alexander Seton, feudal Lord of Gordon, of the lands of Newton, Herdhill and Kinnordie Balbredie, in the (territorial) Barony of Kirriemuir , Nichol Borthwick of the lands of Ladinch (15 March 1438) and William Gifford of B.¹ In 1444 had licence to fortify his house and add an iron gate.¹

     Janet Towers is the daughter of William Towers.¹ She married Alexander Ogilvy, 2nd of Inverquharity, son of Sir John Ogilvy, 1st of Inverquharity.¹
     Her married name became Ogilvy.
