Obituary from the Craven Almanac
Sylvester Lister, Barden Tower, died on Monday, March 26, 1900. Deceased was in his 80th year and died at Chapel House, Barden. Up to about two years ago he resided at the farmhouse within the grounds of Barden Tower. His forefathers had occupied the same dwelling for generations. Mr. Lister was a man of virtuous intellect. He accepted the doctrines of the New Jerusalem Church in early Life, and for many years was a member of the Church at Embsay. His great love of music led him to draw together the young people of the district, who he trained as a choir. Deceased was an expert angler. His remains were interred at Bolton Abbey. His widow still resides at the Chapel House, and the farmhouse at Barden Tower is still tenanted by a Sylvester Lister.
