     Lt.-Col. Edward Bourryan Luard was born in 1871 at St. Leonard's-on-Sea, Sussex, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Richard George Amherst Luard and Hannah Chamberlin.1 He married Louise Henrietta Smith, daughter of Rev. Canon Sidney Lidderdale Smith and Hon. Frances Mary Scarlett, in 1905 at Hereford, Herefordshire, England.1 He died on 24 April 1916, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Shropshire Light Infantry.2 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 1st Battalion, King's Shropshire Shropshire Light Infantry.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.)1

     Lt.-Col. John Luard was born on 5 May 1790.1 He was the son of Peter John Luard and Louisa Dalbiac.1 He married Elizabeth Scott, daughter of Colonel William Scott.1 He died on 24 October 1875 at age 85.1
     He fought in the Peninsular Wars.1 He fought in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 4th Dragoons and 16th Lancers.1 He wrote the book History of the Dress of the British Soldier, published 1852.2
