Sir Hugh Bateman, 1st Bt. was born on 21 March 1756.1 He was the son of Richard Bateman.1 He married Temperance Gisborne, daughter of John Gisborne and Ann Bateman, on 4 February 1786 at All Saints, Hartingdon, Derbyshire, England.1,2 He died on 28 January 1824 at age 67.1
He was created 1st Baronet Bateman, of Hartington Hall, co. Derby [U.K.] on 15 December 1806, with special remainder to his daughters primogeniturely.1
