     William Henry Churchward was born on 17 January 1817 at Stoke Dameral, Devon, England.1 He was the son of William Churchward and Ann Stanbury.1 He married Louisa Harriette Shordiche, daughter of Major Paul Rycaut Shordiche and Sarah Elizabeth Cleveland, on 3 December 1845 at Islington, London, England.1 He died on 28 October 1896 at age 79 at Horsell, Surrey, England.1
     He was registered as a Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (M.I.C.E.)1
