     From 7 September 1871, her married name became Shaw-Stewart.

     Colonel Basil Heron Shaw-Stewart was born on 8 December 1877.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. John Heron Maxwell Shaw-Stewart and Mary Catherine Bedingfeld Collyer.2 He married Vera Caldwell, daughter of William Henry Caldwell, on 9 November 1916.1 He died on 7 April 1939 at age 61.1
     He was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War, and was mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Brigade-Major in 1916.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery.1
