     Captain Terence Hugh Back was born on 30 April 1895 at Aysham, Norfolk, England.2 He was the son of Reverend Hugh Cairns Alexander Back and Maud Ellen Fletcher. He married Mary I. Gillespy in 1936 at Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England.3 He died on 25 May 1968 at age 73 at Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England.2
     He was commissioned on 15 January 1908, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 30 October 1916.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 July 1924.1 He gained the rank of Commander on 31 December 1930.1 He gained the rank of Captain on 30 June 1938.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) on 8 June 1944.1 He gained the rank of on 4 August 1946.1 He lived at Blaisdon House, Longhope, Gloucestershire, England.4
