Sir Edward Mortimer Mountain, 1st Bt. was born on 24 November 1872.1 He was the son of Stanford Henry Mortimer Mountain and Louisa Eve.2 He married Evelyn Ellen Regina Seiglé, daughter of August Seiglé, on 6 January 1897.1 He died on 22 June 1948 at age 75.1
He was educated at Dulwich College, Dulwich, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He was chairman of Eagle Star Insurance, Second Covent Garden Property Company and Philip Hill Investment Trust.1 He was appointed Knight in 1918.1 He was created 1st Baronet Mountain, of Oare Manor, co. Somerset and Brendon, co. Devon [U.K.] on 23 January 1922.1
