     Lionel Robert Ashburner was baptised on 14 January 1828 at Tasmania, Australia^G.¹ He was the son of William Page Ashburner and Hester Maria Elliot.¹ He married Emily Caroline Haggard, daughter of Thomas Trenchard Haggard and Emily Frances Ewing Bosworth, on 14 June 1873 at Kirkee, Bombay, India^G.¹ He died in 1907 at Marylebone, London, England^G.¹
     He was Acting Governor of Bombay between 13 March 1880 and 28 April 1880.¹ He was a practising in the Indian Civil Service.¹ He lived in 1901 at 9a Gloucester Place, St. Marylebone, London, England^G.¹

     William Maitland was born in 1757.¹ He was the son of Hon. Sir Alexander Maitland, 1st Bt. and Penelope Madan.² He died in 1781, drowned in the Bay of Bengal.¹

     Lt.-Col. Augustus Maitland was the son of Hon. Sir Alexander Maitland, 1st Bt. and Penelope Madan.² He died on 31 October 1797, from wounds received in action in the Low Countries.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Guards.¹ He fought in the French Revolutionary Wars.¹

     General Frederick Maitland was born on 3 September 1763.¹ He was the son of Hon. Sir Alexander Maitland, 1st Bt. and Penelope Madan.² He married Catherine Prettyjohn, daughter of John Prettyjohn, in 1790.¹ He died on 27 January 1848 at age 84.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the 58th Regiment.¹

     John Prettyjohn lived at Barbados.¹

     Catherine Prettyjohn is the daughter of John Prettyjohn.² She married General Frederick Maitland, son of Hon. Sir Alexander Maitland, 1st Bt. and Penelope Madan, in 1790.¹
     From 1790, her married name became Maitland.

     John Madan Maitland was born on 12 August 1793.¹ He was the son of General Frederick Maitland and Catherine Prettyjohn.² He married, firstly, Ellinor Annesley, daughter of Gilbert Annesley, on 24 October 1822.¹ He married, secondly, Harriet Pratt, daughter of Reverend Joseph Pratt, on 21 July 1829.¹ He died on 14 October 1842 at age 49.¹

     Ellinor Annesley was the daughter of Gilbert Annesley.² She married John Madan Maitland, son of General Frederick Maitland and Catherine Prettyjohn, on 24 October 1822.¹ She died on 15 October 1823.¹
     From 24 October 1822, her married name became Maitland.

     Lt.-Col. Frederick Thomas Maitland was born on 18 September 1807.¹ He was the son of General Frederick Maitland and Catherine Prettyjohn.² He married Emily Augusta Mary Newlands, daughter of Major Richard Bingham Newlands, on 18 July 1842.¹ He died in 1883.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.¹
