     Sir William Alan Macpherson of Cluny Macpherson and 6th of Blairgowrie, 27th Chief was born on 1 April 1926.1 He was the son of Brigadier Alan David Macpherson of Cluny Macpherson and 5th of Blairgowrie, 26th Chief and Catharine Richardson Hill.2 He married Sheila McDonald Brodie, daughter of Thomas Brodie, on 27 December 1962.1 He died on 14 February 2021 at age 94.3
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, England.2 He gained the rank of Captain between 1944 and 1947 in the Scots Guards.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1952 entitled to practise as a barrister.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel between 1962 and 1965 in the 21st SAS Regiment (Territorial Army.)1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1965.1 He was appointed Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1971.1 He held the office of Recorder of the Crown Court between 1971 and 1983.2 He was Governor of the Royal Scottish Corp between 1972 and 1996.2 He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers in 1976.2 He held the office of Bencher of the Inner Temple in 1978.2 He was appointed Knight in 1983.1 He held the office of Judge of the High Court of Justice, Queen's Bench Division between 1983 and 1996.2 He held the position of 27th Chief of the Clan Macpherson from.1 He held the office of Judge of the Northern Circuit between 1984 and 1988.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court on 3 August 1984.1 He was President of the Highland Society of London between 1991 and 1994.1 He lived in 2003 at Newton Castle, Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland.1
