Lt.-Col. Henry Dundas Keith Macartney was born on 1 February 1880.1 He was the son of John Arthur Macartney and Annie Flora Dunlop.2 He married Alexandrina Vans Woinarski, daughter of Stanislaus Zichy Woinarski, in 1911.1 He died on 24 October 1932 at age 52.1
He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Australian Artillery.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1919.1
