     Major John Arthur Bayley was born in 1831.1 He was the son of Francis Bayley and Elizabeth Macdonald.2 He married Elizabeth Sterling, daughter of Samuel Sterling, on 5 June 1853.1 He died on 4 February 1903, without issue.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the 52nd Light Infantry.1
