     James Hamilton was the son of Allan Hamilton, 1st of Fairholm.2 He died before 1530, without issue.1
     He was living on 6 August 1513.1

John Hamilton, 2nd of Fairholm1

     John Hamilton, 2nd of Fairholm was the son of Allan Hamilton, 1st of Fairholm.2 He died before 22 April 1548 at Dumbarton, Dunbartonshire, Scotland, killed in an accident while a courier for the King of France.1
     On 20 February 1539 he conveyed fairholm to his younger brother Robert.1 He held the office of Master of Works, Queen's Buildings at Holyrood House in 1543.1 He was Treasurer of Ross on 13 September 1546.1

Robert Hamilton, 3rd of Fairholm and of Aldtoun and Milburne1

     Robert Hamilton, 3rd of Fairholm and of Aldtoun and Milburne was the son of Allan Hamilton, 1st of Fairholm.2 He died circa 1554.2
     He held the office of Sheriff-Depute of Lanarkshire in March 1504/5.2

Mathew Hamilton, 4th of Fairholm and of Aldtoun and Milburne1

     Mathew Hamilton, 4th of Fairholm and of Aldtoun and Milburne was the son of Robert Hamilton, 3rd of Fairholm and of Aldtoun and Milburne.2 He married Agnes Livingstone, daughter of Robert Livingstone of Middlebinning.1 He died on 23 December 1564.1
     He was a staunch Roman Catholic during the Reformation in Scotland.1 He was an adherent of 2nd Earl of Arran.1 He was Gentleman and Squire of the Royal Household on 31 August 1529.1 He held the office of Captain of Blackness Castle and Linlithgow Palace in 1543.1 He held the office of Customs Officer of Linlithgow between 1544 and 1553.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Linlithgowshire [Scotland] in 1546.1 In 1549 he had charter under Great Seal of the lands of Houston, Linlithgowshire.1 He was the guardian to 3rd Earl of Arran on 3 September 1561.1

John Hamilton1

     John Hamilton was the son of Robert Hamilton, 3rd of Fairholm and of Aldtoun and Milburne.2 He married Jean Hamilton, daughter of James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Arran, before 1563.1 He died on 14 May 1568, killed in action.1
     He lived at Auchtigemmel, Scotland.1 He was Master of Household to Duke of Chatelherault.1 In 1564 he suceeded his brother Mathew to the lands of Milburne.1 He fought in the Battle of Langside on 14 May 1568.1
