     James Veitch Johnstone was born on 19 December 1924.¹ He was the son of Major FitzRoy Augustus Beauclerk Johnstone and Alida Helen Veitch.² He married Nancy Hayes Atkinson, daughter of Henry Atkinson, in 1949.¹ He died on 3 June 2016 at age 91.³
     He was educated at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in 1943 in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.¹ He lived in 2003 at Glasfryn, Valley Road, Llanfairfechan, Caernarvonshire, Wales.¹

     Nancy Hayes Atkinson was the daughter of Henry Atkinson.² She married James Veitch Johnstone, son of Major FitzRoy Augustus Beauclerk Johnstone and Alida Helen Veitch, in 1949.¹ She died in 1998.¹
     From 1949, her married name became Johnstone.

     Rosalynde Patricia Mills is the daughter of Michael John Mills.² She married Ian James Fitzroy Johnstone, son of James Veitch Johnstone and Nancy Hayes Atkinson, in 1989.¹
     From 1989, her married name became Johnstone.

     Callum James Johnstone was born in 1988.¹ He is the son of Ian James Fitzroy Johnstone and Rosalynde Patricia Mills.²

     Peter Montague Veitch Johnstone was born in 1956.¹ He is the son of James Veitch Johnstone and Nancy Hayes Atkinson.² He married Fiona Catherine French, daughter of Lt.-Cdr. C. A. J. French, in 1990.¹
