Major David Lucius O'Brien was born on 6 August 1904.1 He was the son of William Dermod O'Brien and Mabel Emmeline Smyly.2 He married, firstly, Mary Katherine Drummond Ramsay-Steel-Maitland, daughter of Sir Arthur Herbert Drummond Ramsay-Steel-Maitland, on 7 October 1929.1 He and Mary Katherine Drummond Ramsay-Steel-Maitland were divorced in 1946.1 He married, secondly, Shirley Hurford, daughter of C. P. Hurford, in 1954.1 He died in 1988.1
