     Sir Archibald Hope of Craighall, 9th Bt. was born in 1735.¹ He was the son of Archibald Hope and Catherine Tod.² He married, firstly, Elizabeth Macdowall, daughter of William Macdowall of Castle Semple, in 1757.¹ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Patoun, daughter of John Patoun of Inveresk and Jean Douglas, in 1779.¹ He died on 10 June 1794.¹
     He succeeded to the title of 9th Baronet Hope, of Craighall [N.S., 1628] in 1771.¹ He purchased the Pinkie estate from the Marquess of Tweeddale in 1778.¹

     James Hope was the son of Sir Thomas Hope of Craighall, 8th Bt. and Margaret Lowis.² He died, unmarried.¹
