John Williams Harris1

     John Williams Harris was born on 21 February 1849 at Soply, Hampshire, England.1,2 He was the son of Admiral Hon. Sir Edward Alfred John Harris and Emma Wylly Chambers.1 He married Amelia Frances Wardlaw Cumming, daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Wedderburn Cumming and Emma Georgiana Christina Clay, on 31 July 1880.1 He died on 17 February 1932 at age 82, without issue.1
     He was a practising barrister.1 He was with the Bengal Civil Service between 1869 and 1878.1 He was Consul to Denmark between 1880 and 1887.1 He was Consul to Tuscany between 1887 and 1888.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire.1

     Amelia Frances Wardlaw Cumming was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Wedderburn Cumming and Emma Georgiana Christina Clay.1,2 She married John Williams Harris, son of Admiral Hon. Sir Edward Alfred John Harris and Emma Wylly Chambers, on 31 July 1880.1 She died on 9 May 1926.1
     From 31 July 1880, her married name became Harris.1
