William Taliaferro Close was born on 7 June 1924 at Greenwich, Connecticut, U.S.A.G.2 He was the son of Edward Bennett Close and Elizabeth Taliaferro.2 He married Bettine Moore, daughter of Charles Arthur Moore, Jr. and Elizabeth Hyde, on 6 February 1943 at Greenwich, Connecticut, U.S.A.G.1 He died on 15 January 2009 at age 84 at Big Piney, Wyoming, U.S.A.G.2
