Jackelyn Yvette Green1

Jackelyn Yvette Green was born on 28 January 1969 at Wynyard District Hospital, Wynard, Tasmania, AustraliaG.1 She is the daughter of Philip Martin Green and Joan Elizabeth Frampton.1 She married Jamie Robert Kemp on 17 January 1998 at Sacred Heart Church, Ulverstone, Tasmania, AustraliaG, in a Roman Catholic service. marriage.1
As the daughter of a policeman she moved around the state many times during her childhood and attended 10 primary schools. At the last of these, Campbell Street Primary, she was awarded dux of the grade. In that same year she also gained a music scholarship for her piano playing and was provided with free tuition in violin for her high school years. She attended Ogilive High School and then went on to The Hobart College for matriculation and then the University of Tasmania for the completion of a Bachelor of Economics. Just days after the completion of her final exams she was offered the opportunity to travel to Antarctica for six weeks in the capacity of 'laundrologist'. Whilst at University, Jackelyn also enlisted in the Royal Australian Naval Reserves and attained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant. Jackelyn's first professional placement after graduation was at the Commonwealth Bank in their Accelerated Graduate Development Program. Subsequent to this she moved on to work at the Hydro Electric Commission (HEC) as a Forecasting Analyst. Jackelyn's interest then moved into the area of marketing and market research so she completed a post-graduate certificate in Marketing and aligned herself in the HECs marketing department as a market research analyst. After a failed long term relationship, Jackelyn moved to Sydney and took up a position as Market Analyst with BIS Shrapnel. She then moved on to work as a Research Executive at Newspoll. Jackelyn had always enjoyed travelling and had back-packed around England, Wales, Greece, Italy and Germany in the past. Deciding on a different type of holiday, she opted for a cruise in 1997 to the South Pacific and it was whilst in Port Vila that she met her husband Jamie. Ten months of a long distance relationship saw the two of them move to be together in Tasmania in 1998. Here Jackelyn was reunited with her family but had to change course with her career. Finding suitable employment in regional Tasmania (Burnie) was a challenge but Jackelyn soon found her niche in becoming a Program Manager for the North West Tasmania Division of General Practice and part-time TAFE teacher in the Business Services division.
In 2000 Jackelyn had her first baby, Alexander. It was at this point that she gave up her career to date and became a part-time, self-employed music teacher. In 2001 she had her second child, Samuel. Sam was born with Velo-Cardial-Facial Syndrome (non hereditary). The first four years of his life were very difficult with two lots of heart surgery, multiple cases of pneumonia and other developmental delays. Jackelyn immersed herself in providing for Sam and made sure she obtained the best care and education for him. It is with delight and enormous pride that she watches him now aged 5.8 enjoying a perfectly normal childhood. He will, however, require more heart surgery in his teenage years. After having Alex, Jackelyn suffered one hydatidiform miscarriage. Subsequent to having Sam she had three miscarriages and one ectopic pregnancy. Determined not to give up, it was a beautiful gift to give birth to Grace in 2005.
In 2002, Jackelyn and Jamie moved to Canberra to be closer to Jamie's parents who were doting grandparents. Jackelyn found her home in Canberra with a wonderful circle of friends, a stimulating orchestra to perform with and excellent job prospects. She had developed a Toddler Music program whilst in Tasmania and continued that in Canberra. She also worked as a private piano and violin teacher at a number of schools. At the time of writing, now that her children are growing older, she is just beginning to look at a career path more in line with her qualifications. (Jackelyn Kemp - 2007.)1 From 17 January 1998, her married name became Kemp.1 She was a Music Teacher.1 She gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve.1
