Colonel George de la Poer Beresford Pakenham was born on 4 December 1875.1 He was the son of Charles George Pakenham and Emily Blanche Harrison.2 He married, firstly, Emilie Elsie Fowler, daughter of William Fowler, on 23 February 1905.1 He married, secondly, Marie Marthe Amalie (?) in 1923.1 He died on 29 December 1960 at age 85.1
He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches six times.1 He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1915.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Border Regiment, Indian Army.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1922.1
