     David Balfour of Balbuthy and Newgrange was the son of Michael Balfour of Montquhannie and Janet Boswell. He married Elizabeth Wemyss. He died in July 1571.
     On 9 October 1569 he had a charter of the fourth-part of the lands of Newgrange.
