     Major Francis Woodley Horne was born on 3 July 1810.1 He was the son of Sir William Horne and Anne Hesse.1 He died in December 1858 at age 48 at River Raptee, India, drowned on active service, while chasing rebels.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the 7th Queen's Hussars.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny.1
