     Francis Hawkins was born in 1794 at Bisley, Gloucestershire, England.1,2 He was the son of Reverend Edward Hawkins and Margaret Howes.3 He married, firstly, Hester Vaughan, daughter of Sir John Vaughan, on 4 May 1831.1 He married, secondly, Sarah Jane Haywood, daughter of G. Haywood, on 23 July 1859.1 He died on 13 December 1877.1
     He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).1 He was Physician-in-Ordinary for the Royal Household.1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal College of Physicians, London (F.R.C.P.).2 He lived in 1861 at 18 Bolton Street, St. George Hanover Square, London, England.2

     He was with the Sudan Civil Service.1 He was decorated with the award of the Order of the Nile (3rd Class).1 He was decorated with the award of the Order of the Medjidie (4th Class).1
