     William Unwin Heygate was born on 12 March 1825.1 He was the son of Sir William Heygate, 1st Bt. and Isabella Mackmurdo.2 He married Constance Mary Beaumont, daughter of Sir George Howland Willoughby Beaumont, 8th Bt. and Mary Anne Howley, on 6 July 1852.1 He died on 2 March 1902 at age 76.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1847 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He graduated from Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1850 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Leicestershire Yeomanry Cavalry.1
