     Captain George Louis Downall Gibbs was born on 30 July 1882.1 He was the son of Reverend William Cobham Gibbs and Annie Katharina Downall.1 He married Susan Fayth Harding-Newman, daughter of Francis Robert Harding-Newman, on 21 September 1926.1 He died on 31 October 1956 at age 74.1
     Captain George Louis Downall Gibbs fought in the First World War, mentioned in despatches.1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy.1
